Having a single kid or a whole bunch of them can take up all of your time. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or a working mother, it can be difficult to take time off for yourself. And when the going gets tough, doing anything to look and feel beautiful often goes for a toss.
But you don’t have to continue your busy life without doing anything for yourself! You just need to think of how you can look beautiful without spending lots of time on beauty treatments and make-up techniques.
Luckily for you, here are a few tips that will help you look your best!
Dry Shampoo Can Save the Day
If you don’t have the time to tame your mane, a spritz or two of dry shampoo can be a life-saver. Dry shampoo can absorb excess oil and make your hair look fresh. It also adds volume and texture to your hair and leaves it smelling good!
If you have colored hair, daily shampooing and styling can damage hair while also dulling the color. Dry shampoo can help preserve your hair color for long.
Don’t Forego Shampoo Completely
Dry shampoo is only for those times when you are really hard pressed for time. If you have to use it more than twice or thrice, you need to wet shampoo!
Once or twice in a week, do take time out from your busy schedule to shampoo and condition your tresses as you normally do. On weekends, or whenever you have a couple of hours to yourself, use a nourishing hair mask that you can make at home in a jiffy.
Cleanse without Fail
It is important to cleanse your face of make-up, dirt, and oil build-up before you call it a day. All you need is a good cleansing lotion and a cotton ball! Going to bed with your make-up on or without getting rid of the grime can lead to blocked pores and result in acne. That’s the last thing you want!
Indeed, after a tiring day, you might just want to plop down on the bed instead of worrying over a pimple or two. For days when you can’t keep your eyes open for another 5 minutes, cleansing wipes can come in handy.
Place a pack of wipes in your handbag, in the car, and next to your bed so you always have access to them. And while you’re at it, buy some face blotters too; use them during the day to soak up excess oil and help you look fresh-faced.
Tone and Moisturize as Needed
Avoid toning if you have very dry skin; you’ll need to just keep your skin well-moisturized. Of course, this won’t take a lot of time!
If you have oily skin, you just need to spend a minute extra to dab some toner on your face using a cotton ball. And another minute to rub on some oil-free moisturizer!
Once a week, use a gentle exfoliant on your face and body. It will help slough off dirt and dead skin cells, leaving your skin glowing and soft to the touch. Shedding dead skin cells makes your skin look younger and though the skin can do this by itself, the process slows down as we age.
Exfoliating regularly will keep your pores unclogged and help your skin look even-toned. Exfoliating before shaving also helps you get a closer and smoother shave. Just be sure to not over-exfoliate yourself!
Help your skin out by exfoliating it weekly with a loofah or brush. Use a pumice stone gently on elbows and feet. While brushing teeth, take a few seconds to brush your lips with a soft-bristled toothbrush to keep them soft and supple.
Never Step out without Sunscreen
Be it a five-minute trip to the grocery store or two hours of play-time in the park, never leave your house without slathering on sunscreen. The harmful rays of the sun do your skin more damage than you can imagine.
So quit thinking that you don’t need sunscreen because you won’t be out in the sun for long. Even in winters, remember to apply sunscreen religiously.
And do avoid going out in the sun as much as you can; sun damage can cause discoloration, form wrinkles, and increase the risk of skin cancer!
Use Only Make-Up Essentials
You don’t have to kiss make-up goodbye if you don’t have the time to use it all. Just start applying make-up smartly to save time and look your gorgeous best.
You can mix a little foundation with your moisturizer or simply switch over to tinted moisturizers instead of sulking over not being able to find time to apply foundation. Mineral powders are easy to apply and can give you luminous skin in an instant.
When it comes to eye make-up, just use mascara to save time. If it isn’t possible to perfect applying lip liner and lipstick every day, start using lip gloss or tinted lip balms. You can also choose to highlight either your lips or your eyes if you have just enough time to perfect only one.
If you haven’t used your make-up products for quite a while, make sure they haven’t reached expiry date already. If switching over to new products, be mindful of allergies. Try out freebies or samples before buying expensive stuff.
Just follow these simple tips and you’ll see how easy it is to look beautiful without spending too much time!
