Kite Flying

This week’s prompt over at Sunday Creative was “shapely” so I wrote a poem that appeared shapely.

the kite
away from me,
Wind twists and tears
on the string and cloth
composing a dance of erratic joy.
Dragon’s eyes look forward to clouds
and its scales of cotton undulate in the
wind that jerks and pushes my kite above the earth.
It meets in a cloudy cafe with a shimmering ladybug.
She does not want to sit quietly or still
so flies away as quickly she lands
to a perch where Angels sing and
dance melts red with green
wings that light and fly,
dip, twist, soar while
they are teased
by the

It is rare for me to run across one of these types of poems – that I like really well. It is a perfect pairing for the prompt photo – you are to be commended. I know how easy it is NOT to write that type of a poem.

Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I know that reading poems around the internet so many are so negative. I am guilty of writing about the negative too, but writing is therapy.
