Me Before You

Books usually don’t make me cry. In fact, it takes a whole lot to make me cry. But Me Before You by JoJo Moyes made me teary.

Lou is just a girl who likes crazy clothes and talking with people. When the cafe she loves working in closes, she reluctantly takes a position caring for Will, a quadriplegic.

I can’t tell you much more of the story without giving spoilers. The relationship between Luisa and Will is the driving force in this story. They both grow and are changed forever because they knew each other. And you will cry.

One of my friends said it made her sob. Actually sob.

You will be changed by reading this novel. It is not just a love story. It is not just a caregiver story. It is not just a story about relationships. It is a story that takes some of the toughest issues we face and puts a real, human face on them. It makes you considers ideas that may be new or uncomfortable. It will make you think about what you would do, how you would feel.

This is truly an amazing story with characters that don’t feel fictional at all.
