The Winter People

The Winter People is a ghost story.

That said, I’m not really sure why I read it. The back of the book sounded interesting in the store and it was recommended to me from a group I belong to. But I’m just not into ghost stories.

Funny story – I was right in the middle of the book one night and the boyfriend got home from work. He works nights which means I was up way too late. Anyway, I did jump about a mile when he came in because I hadn’t heard him open the front door.

If you like ghost stories, you will probably like this book. It is gruesome and has a relatively fast pace to the plot.

I did find the plot to be a bit formulaic. There weren’t any surprises. The plot twists were not surprising. The novel is set in a small town bent on keeping it’s secrets. Outsiders come in and try to uncover the secrets.

If you are looking for a fast paced ghost story that will make you sleep with the closet door open, this book will be right up your alley. If you aren’t a ghost story person, you probably want to skip this on.

2-star-rating
