Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Review

Whenever a new eyeshadow palette comes out, I spend a lot of time trying to decide if I will truly use the palette and want the palette before I buy it. In truth, I have enough eyeshadow to last me the rest of my life! So I try to be discerning when shopping for new palettes.

The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette is one I decided I didn't need. I didn't even go to the store and swatch it first. It just didn't get good reviews and I was eh about the colors.

So when it came in August's Boxycharm I was super excited to try it.

The palette is listed for $36 on Tarte's website and $18 on Sephora currently.

The packaging is super cute.

If you are a neutral/warm shadow person, this may be your jam. But it's really not mine, which is why I decided I didn't need it in the first place. I prefer cool tones and lots of color!

There is only one matte color in the palette. The second one from the right. It's the only shade in the palette that blends well. The rest of the shadows are a rough glitter. They are rough to the touch and on the eye. The rest of the shadows are dry, rough and difficult to blend.

I will be perfectly honest with you. Most of my drugstore eyeshadows perform better than the shadows in this palette.

I would suggesting passing on this palette. It is not the quality that I expect from Tarte or from any other high end makeup brand.
