The Bluest Eyes

August 12, 2010

in Confessions,Lifestyle

This poem was written for Mama Kat's writing workshop. The cue was to write about the bluest eyes you have ever seen. Big Brother has the bluest eyes I have ever seen. For this poem I imagined him visiting my favorite coffee shop in Oklahoma City all grown up and a poet seeing his blue eyes and being inspired to write.

I see him in a crowded café-

lock eyes for a brief, blue moment

and turns back to the page

scribbling furiously as my pen wishes.

Another poet?  Perhaps a travel writer

lauding my town – the canal

that wants to be a Riverwalk,

Red Rock Canyon, and

The Museum of Natural History.

My pen begins to move keeping

pace with his.  Faster.  Furious.

Just one question.  Was it him,

or me?

Again, very nice! I want to try my hand at poetry, but am too afraid! I do write poetry for my kids and my students at times though. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I like it! I love reading poetry and pondering what it all means, but I can't write it to save my self! Actually… I can barely write for my blog! Oh well! 🙂

He's very cute! Looks like a happy child!

I liked that! The photo said a lot, and your poem painted a vivid picture.
