Why Mommy?

After several people being concerned about me today, I guess I need to clarify. I was not robbed. I am safe. My family is safe. This is a poem I wrote about how when you are a mommy, your life is taken over by kids, but at the end of the day, it is all worth it!

I have been robbed.
My stuff is missing.
My treasured stuff I gave
so much time to get
is gone.

There is a void in the wall
where my television was.
I have been thefted
of my entertainment.

My computer is nothing
but a dangling cord and a
laser mouse with no red light.
My world has gotten smaller.

There is a whiter square on the wall
where a family portrait used to hang
and my seat at the table has
been shuttled off.
My place is gone.

All the thief left is a beaten
battered, torn, dirty, crumpled
drawing of me –
drawn by my son
with the tentative scrawlings
of a three year old – –
Love, Christopher.
