It does not need that a poem should be long. Every word was once a poem.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Writing is not always easy. Sometimes the blank page is terrifying. Every Saturday, I will post a writing prompt to help get that blank page filled. Stop back by anytime during the week and leave a comment with a link to your post or put your finished/ in progress writing in the comments. Make sure to stop by the other participators and leave a comment!

Writing Prompt #5 – One Word

Words are the life of anything that is written. Good writing tries to take those words and get the reader to feel an emotion without telling the reader how to feel. What words in your life have great meaning? What are the connotations and denotations of that word?

Connotation- the associated or secondary meaning of a word or expression in addition to its explicit or primary meaning: A possible connotation of “home” is “a place of warmth, comfort, and affection.”

Denotation -the explicit or direct meaning or set of meanings of a word or expression, as distinguished from the ideas or meanings associated with it or suggested by it; the association or set of associations that a word usually elicits for most speakers of a language, as distinguished from those elicited for any individual speaker because of personal experience. Compare connotation.

a word that names or signifies something specific: “Wind” is the denotation for air in natural motion. “Poodle” is the denotation for a certain breed of dog.
Write your piece for this week based on that word that means so much to you. Don’t forget to come back and link up anytime during the week!

I love this idea. I am working all day today, otherwise I’d link up today. Next week I’ll be around.

I reallylike this idea and my fingers are itching to do it.

Love how it has already jumpstarted my thinking.

arghh..why do we need money anyway?

Off to work. *sigh*

would like to express my gratitude to you for stopping by from the Lady Blogger Society feature, I am still extensively shocked that my blog was featured; it made my day but friends like you who leave such compassionate comments hold stout value to me. Thank you.

Please know I was asked to offer continued updates on the clinical trail and my health, I have opted to do that for so many who wanted to follow this journey. I hope to see your warm heart there as well.

I love the diversity of you blog and have followed, it’s the least I can do for such compassion you have shown to me.

God Bless You
